Kitchen Assistant

Responsibilities
Ashley Lodge.
· Cleaning and sanitising entire kitchen and contents, walls, floors, appliances etc.
· Remove all used crockery, cutlery, pans and glassware carefully from dumb waiter/trolley after use and clean in a timely manner. Clean up and dispose of leftover food appropriately.
· Maintain a neat and tidy work environment at all times; ensure cleanliness of all areas where food is stored, prepared and served.
· Abide by HACCP regulations at all times.
· Wear appropriate protective clothing as per HACCP regulations.
· Provide all dining areas with crockery, cutlery, etc. at mealtimes, on time and in an efficient manner.
· Be willing to complete other job related tasks at request from time to time.
· Keep all cleaning equipment clean and descale appliances regularly were necessary.
· Dispose of all waste appropriately, i.e. grease, cardboard, glass, etc.
· Recognize tasks to be done and complete them professionally and thoroughly.
· Use the proper equipment and supplies for the job.
· Maintain safety with all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
· Read and understand all chemicals used in the kitchen and wear suitable protective clothing were necessary.
· Handle all appliances and equipment with care to avoid unnecessary breakage and waste.
· Notify maintenance department of any issues or problems with facilities.
· Notify supervisor of faulty equipment.
· Monitor stock levels of all equipment and supplies.
· Be mindful of supply use and avoid waste.
· Keep cleaning checklists and reports up to date as per manager’s request.
· Participate in performance appraisal process and spot checks, with an effort to improve work performance and efficiency.
· Be friendly, approachable and pleasant in all interactions with residents, visitors and staff.
· Ensure the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all residents.
· Carry out all work whilst ensuring resident safety.
· Practice proper infection control techniques.
· Maintain a neat and clean appearance, ensuring proper and clean uniform with name badge.
· Use correct moving and handling techniques.
· Abide by the Centre’s Policies and Procedures.
· Ensure that all incidents are recorded and appropriate action is taken.
· Be knowledgeable of fire and safety policies.
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
· Work co-operatively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
· Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
· Other duties which may be required from time to time.
· Be willing to participate in all job related training.
Conditions of Employment
· Attending continuing education and training courses, including Manual Handling and HACCP training.
Working Conditions
· Work is normally performed within the confines of the Centre.
· Moderate physical activity requiring the handling of objects.
· Standing and/or walking for more that 4 hours per day.
· Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
