We are currently recruiting a Night Porter to join our Nights team. The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance and visible presence and security to guests and staff and to oversee the smooth running of the hotel throughout the night.
The nights team would operate bar service – to ensure the proper service of drink to residents in the residents bar and provide beverage service to rooms during night if required in accordance with SOP.
To assist the Night Manager carrying out duties which may entail providing security, reporting and customer service, this is a position of responsibility which requires the ability to operate with courtesy, confidentiality and discretion.
To complete fire rounds of all corridors, basements, public areas and assigned areas, ie areas to be walked and checked at the beginning of each shift and at 11.30pm and 6.00am and otherwise as directed and ensure fire doors are clear
To report in the prescribed manner any hazards, breakages or anomalies discovered in the above
Ensure that all exits (not fire exits) are clear, locked and secure
Ensure that all windows are locked
Ensure that all function guests and non-residents have left the premises in a courteous fashion – be aware of regular customers
Be vigilant for any suspicious characters, packages or happenings
Enter any incident (no matter how small) in the incident report system
Ensure that all keys are stored away in the key box before going off duty
Ensure that all cash handling procedures are carried out in accordance with company policy
Ensure all monies are safely locked away in the prescribed manner
1Ensure that you are fully aware of and compliant with all emergency procedures for accidents, fire, evacuation and illness
Ensure that all cleaning duties are carried out as per SOP
Ensure that function/meeting rooms are set up to the correct specifications in accordance with SOP – be aware of house count and function sheet
To assist in front office checking in late arrivals/checking out early departures, completing full night audit, checking floats, post breakfast service levy to rooms, hand over restaurant bills to Reception, carry out calls, ensure that Reception is manned by at least one person at all times and handover to Receptionist in morning
Bar service – ensure the proper service of drink to residents and provide beverage service to rooms during night if required in accordance with SOP
Room service – ensure that all breakfast cards are collected and completed and passed to restaurant staff and provide room service where necessary in accordance with SOP
Spot Checking – check hot water and heating to ensure they are in operation
To always work in a professional and friendly manner and to undertake any reasonable duty as may be assigned to you.
To carry out all duties, and to abide by the standards, procedures and policies adopted by the hotel, including those laid down in the employee handbook, the health and safety statement and the SOPs for your department.
