Position Summary

People are living for longer with multiple chronic health conditions requiring the prescription of multiple medications (polypharmacy). As the number of medicines increase, so too do the risks associated. This project is funded by a four-year HRB-funded Emerging Clinician Scientist Award that is examining problematic polypharmacy in older community-dwelling people attending general practice in Ireland. To date this project has included a systematic review, stakeholder analysis and analysis of several large routine medicines’ datasets examining these issues.

The PI and research team wish to maximise the impact of the research outputs from this research programme by employing a postdoctoral researcher to lead out on knowledge translation activities and innovative science communication, with a particular focus on engaging with patient and public representatives and lay translation of the research.

Project Title: Characterising problematic polypharmacy in older community-dwelling adults attending general practice.

Post Duration: 2 Years

Salary: €44,347 - €50,805 (IUA PD1 Salary Scale)
