Psychologist Basic Grade

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Basic Grade Psychologist to join our team in CHO6, Dublin South, currently based in Sandymount.
Contract Type: This is a permanent, full time contract.
Contract Hours: 35 hours per week.
Salary Scale: €57,549 – €90,771 pro rata per annum.
This pay scale is subject to increases in 2024 in accordance with the recent WRC interim agreement (Ref CAM -100101-22 ) towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.
Overview of the Post:
To work as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing services to children and families within the region. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of psychology services including assessment and intervention to children accessing the Early Intervention service as appropriate.
Overview of Duties & Responsibilities:
- To provide a range of psychological services as required in partnership with children and families including assessment, review, programme implementation, behaviour management and differential diagnosis.
- To work as part of the inter/trans-disciplinary team, providing an integrated service to children and families and contributing to the development of person centered plans.
- Contribute towards the ongoing development of the service, including participation in the evaluation of service delivery and in research initiatives.
- To monitor and keep up-to-date with developments in psychology and disseminate information where relevant to colleagues and families.
- Attend training courses and participate in activities for continuing professional development.
- Contribute to and participate in training initiatives for staff.
- Attend and actively contribute to relevant clinical, professional and service meetings.
- To develop and forge good working relationships with other agencies, networks and the HSE.
- Promote and deliver services within the ethos and philosophy of Enable Ireland.
- Provide advice/support programmes and training for families.
- To maintain statistical records and input to service reports and other relevant reports as required.
- Ensure that professional standards are maintained.
- Participate in training on child protection issues as required.
- Provide support to other staff as appropriate, and to supervise students/volunteers as required.
- Maintain quality standards within the service and participate in quality developments.
- Comply with policies and procedures as advised.
- Perform any other duties appropriate to the position from time to time.
The successful candidate will have:
Essential Criteria:
1. Candidates for appointment must:
- Have a recognised university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
- Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology.
- An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
- Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for.
- Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note 2.
- Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Child Disability, Child Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note 2.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working in the disability sector.
- Experience of inter/trans disciplinary team working.
- Knowledge and experience of Assessment of Need process.
- Experience of working with children aged from birth to 18 years, with a range of disabilities, (including physical disability, autism, learning disability) and their families.
- Experience in Autism diagnosis.
- Applicants must have at least one year satisfactory post-graduate experience working as a Clinical or Educational Psychologist.
