Post Summary
The Department of Economics within Trinity College Dublin’s (TCD) School of Social Sciences & Philosophy seeks to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Assistant in Economic History. The Research Assistant will work at the Department, as a part of the Government of Ireland-funded cross-border Centre for Economics, Policy and History (CEPH). The Research Assistant will be active in assisting the delivery of CEPH’s research programme.

Economics is a member of the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, one of 24 Schools within Trinity College. The Department’s principal research clusters include development economics, in particular the Trinity Impact Evaluation Unit (TIME), international macroeconomics (IM-TCD) and economic history (CEPH). Ranked 1st in Ireland QS Subject Ranking, 2024, the Department has been in existence since 1832. Recognised internationally for its research expertise, particularly in applied economics, the Department is committed to delivering high quality teaching and providing world-class postgraduate programmes.
The successful applicant will be an integral part of CEPH as an exciting new Centre, which has five PIs in two institutions, Trinity College Dublin and Queen’s University Belfast. The research assistant will work closely on research projects with the Dublin-based PIs, in particular Prof. Gaia Narciso, and CEPH research associates.
Post status: Specific Purpose Contract
Hours of Post: 39 hours per week
Salary: Appointment will be made on the IUA Research Assistant Salary Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€31,962 to €41,943 per annum], appointment will be made no higher than point 1 on the Research Assistant scale.
