Position Summary
Applications are invited for the role of Research Support Officer (Technical Researcher) to join the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics. The position holder will work as a Research Support Officer - Technical, assuming task leadership responsibilities in the Horizon Europe project AI4Europe: An AI-on-demand platform to support Research Excellence in Europe.
The Research Support Officer -Technical will support the UCC PI and the Technical Coordinator to execute several technical activities in the project towards the development and maintenance of the AI-on-Demand platform. The Technical Research Support Officer will be responsible for leading tasks and ensuring timely completion of high-quality project deliverables, milestones, and other reports. The post holder will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the platform in liaison with the Technical Coordinator and providing updates and key information to the UCC PI and the Project Manager. The Technical Research Support Officer will work closely with the UCC AI4Europe team, other partners in the consortium, as well as with a variety of project stakeholders across Europe.
About Insight
The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics ( http://www.insight-centre.org) is an SFI funded Research Centre that brings together researchers within University College Dublin, NUI Galway, University College Cork, and Dublin City University, as well as other partner institutions, Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University of Limerick (UL), Maynooth University (MU) and Tyndall National Institute. It creates a critical mass of more than 400 researchers within Ireland's leading ICT clusters to carry out research on a new generation of data analytics technologies in a number of key application domain areas, such as Health and Human Performance, Smart Communities, Internet of Things, Enterprise and Services and Sustainability and Operations.
About AI4Europe
Europe is implementing an AI strategy that seeks to create a research environment characterised by scientific excellence and consistent with the fundamental ethical values of its citizens. Part of this strategy foresees the consolidation of ongoing research activities through the creation and maintenance of an AI on-demand platform that will act as a community resource for the research community, facilitating experimentation, knowledge sharing and the development of state-of-the-art solutions and technologies.
AI4Europe builds on the work of AI4EU and multiple supporting projects (ICT-48/ICT-49), creating an open, impartial, and collaborative platform, built by the European research community according to their needs. Equipped with the necessary hardware, the platform will offer interoperable services, data, and tools referencing several related communities and provide solutions to facilitate research productivity, reproducibility, and collaboration.
The project will establish and support mechanisms to foster exchange between academia and industry and ensure the platform reaches out to and engages with the next generation of researchers and those in widening countries.
The project will develop and implement a business model that will ensure the long-term technical and financial structures providing sustainability for the platform beyond the lifetime of the project.
AI4Europe will support the community to help position Europe as the place where the very best AI research is conducted.

Salary: €44,000 per annum (Personal Rate)
