OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As the Technical Building Consultant for SIG Technical Building Solutions, you will work closely with the technical teams of all our suppliers and provide technical and product support to both internal and external customers and contribute to the growth of SIG Ireland.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leadership and Vision – together with the National Technical Manager, ensure that there is continuous engagement with key external stakeholders. Promote Technical Building Solutions services to new and existing customers.
• Technical Strategy – provision of Technical, regulatory, building standard advise and associated calculations to sales teams, customers, and specification bodies. Interpret technical drawings and produce take-offs and/or calculations. Assist sales team with conversion from product specifications to sales.
• Market Intelligence – monitor trends in the construction industry and identify emerging products and market revenue streams.
• Training – assist in the technical up-skilling of SIG staff and conduct CPD’s for customers.
• Organisational Structure – assist the National Technical Manager with responsibilities across the group in terms of research, analysis and technical support when required. To conduct the above duties from office or remote location and be available to attend site meetings as and when required across ROI and NI.
• People and Environment – Customer-focused and commercially astute, as the Technical Building Consultant, you must have excellent communication skills, a team player mentality, and the ability to work on your own initiative.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education

• Minimum QQI Level 7 in Built Environment, Engineering or Architecture or 2 years minimum relevant technical experience in the construction sector or construction related discipline

Knowledge / Experience / Technical competencies

• At least 2-5 years’ experience within the sales organisation of a construction related company & sales industry experience.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft and other office packages.
• Proficient in CAD/ BIM programs and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.

Full Clean Driving License.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• In depth understanding of the Irish Construction sector.
• Strong Focus on customer service.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to tight deadlines.
• Capable of producing technical reports and/or interpret technical reports, legal text.
• Keep abreast of newest construction technology, regulations, and willing to learn and take on further study if required.
