About Dee Hub
The Dee hub (Ardee and District Community Trust, CLG), is an independent, non profit community organisation involved in out of school, youth development and education. The Dee Hub organises, coordinates and facilitates programmes to support all young people, adults and families in the community.
This community based and community supported initiative is run in partnership with various voluntary and statutory agencies and is supported by a combination of statutory, philanthropic and corporate funding.

Role Information
The Mid Louth Youth Service look to develop a working community and youth project in the Mid Louth area working alongside existing structures, programmes, projects and other initiatives in the mid Louth area. The programme is managed by the Dee Hub and funded through the IFI’s Personal Youth Development Level 4 Energy Programme.
The Successful candidate of this programme will work as part of the Mid Louth Youth Service Team and will be based in the Market House Dunleer/Dee Hub, Market Street, Ardee, Co. Louth. The appointed successful candidate will be responsible for developing, facilitating and managing tailored programmes which seeks to address the specific needs of young people living in the Mid-Louth region, empowering them to prepare for further development in all aspects of their lives. Some travel may be required as part of the role for various meetings, follow ups, reviews and liaison with other agencies etc and the successful candidate will be required to have use of own transport.
“This initiative is a targeted programme and will look at the educational, emotional, mental and physical development of young people, primarily those aged between 10-24 years, from across the Mid-Louth area. It will provide explore new ways to develop climate change and climate action in the area.
The candidate will work closely with the Energy Team Dunleer to lead and deliver innovative ways for young people to work in addressing the challenges of climatechange.This will beachieved through a programme of development, guidance, teaching and support of the Youth participants, the young people will have the opportunity to develop the necessary skills through support from the Energy Team to enable them to transfer this into work, business and/or community leadership roles.
The Successful candidate will work closely with the Mid Louth Youth Service Steering Group Committee and the Trustees of the Dee Hub and other referral agencies.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be employed by Ardee & District Community Trust and will be given a fixed term 18-month contract of employment.
It must be understood however, that if the position becomes redundant at any time during the period of the contract or if the funding for the post is discontinued or a post holder fails to perform satisfactory, employment may be terminated.
Job Description
Job Title: Part Time Youth Worker
Project: Mid Louth Youth Service
Location: Mid-Louth, Co. Louth
Contract Type: 18 months fixed term
Hours: 19.5 hours per week minimum
Annual Leave: 26 days per year (pro-rated)
The duties of the successful candidate in carrying out any functions, which may be involved in or arise out of the appointment, shall be as notified by the Trustees of the Dee Hub.
These duties will include but are not limited to:
1. To liaise and work closely with the youth work and community development team to build issue and interest-based programmes within the youth project in the mid Louth.
2. To liaise with The Energy Team, Dunleer around training and development in the energy sector.
3. To develop innovative and effective methods of developing young people for employment within the energy and climate sector.
4. Liaise with other projects, other agencies and individuals to recruit young people deemed to be at risk.
5. Develop programmes that meet the issues and interests of the young people in mid Louth.
6. Work within existing youth work groups while identifying other areas to develop mainstream services.
7. Build programmes that tackle issues around climate action and awareness in the environmental sector.
8. Work within a sustainable youth café and drop in along side the current youth work team.
9. Work with administration to organise, facilitate and implement Mid Louth Youth Service in line with the agreed budget. Keep accurate records of payments and receipts within the budget constraints of the programme.
10. Establish, liaise and maintain strong links with parents, training provider and other inter-agency personnel.
11. Support and engage the young people in the Good Relations Programme which will be delivered by the International Fund for Ireland.
12. Responsible for reporting to the supervisor, management of Dee Hub and the board of Ardee & District Community Trust. They will be tasked with completing weekly, monthly and annual reports as required.
13. Monitor and evaluate the quality of the programme by keeping comprehensive reports and descriptions of all aspects of the programme.
14. Any other relevant duties as the Trustees of the Dee Hub shall deem necessary for the effective implantation of the programme.

Professional Qualifications and Experience (E) = Essential, (D) = Desirable
· Education to Degree standard preferably in Youth/ Community Work or Social Care (Note: candidates with Diploma and with exceptional, relevant employment may also be considered in lieu of degree qualifications)(E)
· A minimum of 1 year relevant work experience (E)
· Access to car and full clean driving licence (E)
· Ability to engage target group (E)
· Experience working with young people (E)
· An understanding of Youth Work and Community Work methodologies (D)
Person Specification (all Essential requirements)
· Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with young people.
· Good interpersonal skills, including ability to liaise with a wide range of contacts and build and maintain effective working relationships.
· Excellent standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to be proactive, use own initiative and work effectively within a pressurised environment.
· Positive and flexible approach to working as part of a team.
· Good written communication skills, including ability to draft summary information and correspondence, good report writing skills in English.
· Ability to follow organisational guidelines and processes.
· Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, Internet, Power Point and Social Media Requirements.
· Commitment to the purpose of The Dee Hub and to work within the Values, Policies and Procedures of the Organisation.
· To act in a professional manner at all times.
· Flexible in relation to hours of work to meet the needs of the young people. Work during unsocial hours may be required.
· Identify training needs and participate in training opportunities appropriate to the role.
· To undertake other duties as may be requested by the board of The Dee Hub from time to time.
Additional Considerations for the Role
Funding: It must be understood that if the funding for the post is discontinued the post holder’s contract may be terminated.
Garda Vetting: As our work involves contact with young people, candidates under consideration for employment in The Dee Hub will be subject to Garda Vetting.
References: The successful candidate will undergo two reference checks before commencing employment with The Dee Hub.
Annual Leave: The Successful candidate will be entitled to 26 days annual leave pro rata plus public holidays. The needs of the job must be considered when applying to take this leave.
Hours of Work: The Successful candidate will be expected to work a minimum of 19.5 hours per week.
Please note this position will require flexibility in relation to working hours. It is expected that the Successful candidate will work some late evenings (up to 11pm) and some weekend work.
Salary: The salary for this position will be discussed with the successful candidate upon appointment.
Travel: This post will involve some domestic travel within Ireland and occasional meetings. Travel and expenses will be paid in accordance with appropriate rates.
