YOUR TEAM
To deliver sustainability-compliant technologies, the Centre fosters innovative routes, which include the development of microbial-based processes, advanced materials and electrochemical technologies for CO2 capture, valorization and storage, industrial wastes valorization, as well as for hydrogen production, storage and use.
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where biotechnologists, material scientists, chemists, engineers collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Advanced Materials for Sustainable Future Technologies Research Unit, coordinated by Prof. Fabrizio Pirri, is looking for a motivated Post Doc researcher to work on a project that aims at developing sustainable organic binders, membranes and electrodes for their application in green electrochemical energy storage technology. In particular, the research activity will focus on:

• Developing processes for the sustainable extraction of organic materials (polhydroxyalkanoate and polysaccharides) from different microbial biomasses.
• Synthesis and physico-chemical characterization of lignin-based membranes

This open position is financed by “Fondo per la ricerca di sistema elettrico nell’ambito dei bandi di gara per la selezione dei progetti di ricerca di cui all’art. 10, comma 2, del decreto 26 gennaio 2000 - Codice Progetto CSEAA_00010, project “ORg ANics for Green Electrochemical Energy Storage” [ORANGEES], CUP J13C22000730001.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• A Ph D in Material Science and Technology, and similar disciplines.
• Hand-on experience in extraction techniques of molecules derived from biological sources
• Hands-on experience in materials chemistry, in organic and polymeric materials, in morphological and spectroscopic characterization techniques.
• Hands-on experience in membrane synthesis and characterization
• The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data.
• Strong problem solving attitude
• Excellent spoken and written English
