About Irvington Youth Basketball:
Irvington Youth Basketball is dedicated to developing young athletes both on and off the court. Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of basketball while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game. We aim to create a positive and competitive environment where all players can thrive while developing players ready to compete at the high school level. Teams compete in the Tri-County Basketball league running from November till early March.
Job Summary:
We are seeking two passionate and experienced coaches to lead two of our Boys' and Girls' Youth Basketball teams. As a coach, you will be responsible for creating and executing practice plans, developing player skills, and fostering a positive team culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, a commitment to player development, and the ability to work with young athletes in a supportive and motivating manner.
Key Responsibilities:

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 8 per week

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Conduct Practices: Create engaging and effective practice plans focused on skill development, team strategy, and player conditioning.
- Game Management: Lead the team during games, including setting lineups, making in-game adjustments, and promoting good sportsmanship.
- Player Development: Work with individual players to improve their basketball skills, including shooting, passing, defense, and game IQ.
- Positive Team Culture: Foster an environment that promotes teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect among all players.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with players, parents, and program directors regarding schedules, team expectations, and player progress.
- Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety of all players during practices and games, following proper health and safety protocols.
- Experience: Prior coaching experience at the youth or high school level required.
- Basketball Knowledge: Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and lead young athletes in a positive and constructive manner.
- Communication: Strong communication skills with both players and parents.
- Commitment: Available for practices, games, and occasional team events throughout the season. This will require two weekday evening practices and 1-2 games per weekend.
