CATERING MANAGER NF-04 RFT (ALL SOURCES)

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! This position is located at Club Iwakuni. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Catering Manager.
This position is NOT classified as World Wide Hire and does NOT offer housing allowances, relocation assistance, or cost of living allowances.

Major Duties
Develops, plans and implements special catering/programmed events such as command functions, cultural events, balls, airshows in coordination with General Manager, Corporate Chef, and other MCCS departments such as Special Events.
Works with a variety of patrons, both civilian and military, to meet the needs of each patron. Meets with clients to ascertain banquet requirements such as proposed dates, projected number of guests in attendance, and type of occasion being celebrated. Provides information regarding the type of services offered (e.g., room layout, seat chart, decorations, specialized menus, entertainment options, etc.). Coordinates catering contracts for customers, plans menus, draws up room layouts, writes seating charts and receives appropriate form of payments. Ensures that the events are kept within a set budget. Must maintain a client record and contract file ensuring privacy and is responsible for all audits on catering operations. Follows-up with client evaluation of services rendered. Promotes catering program marketing plan and prepares private party brochures and advertising material as well as conducting customer surveys on programs. Collaborate with all responsible managers to ensure all food and beverage needs are met and rooms are not double booked.
Manages operations of all catering events that take place within MCCS or offsite by club personnel. Manages wait, bar, and janitorial staff assigned to the banquets in coordination with relevant managers and supervisors. Assures patron satisfaction by resolving complaints and other customer issues. Trains support staff for following all procedures necessary for the execution of the banquets and writes schedules for banquet support staff. Ensures all contracts meet appropriate cost of goods and cost of labor for each event.
Develops the catering budget and ensures budget guidance is met on all events. Establish catering prices and menus concepts in coordination with General Manager and Club Executive Chef. Reviews the effectiveness of each item and makes changes when needed.
Works with Advisory Boards to develop and implement new activities with the community that enhance the quality of life aboard the installation. Responsible for analyzing entire catering operations and ensures operation is running efficiently and profitably. Prepares operations/program event briefs and presents them to senior leadership as needed.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with "Return To Work" program initiatives, and following up on employee wellbeing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Four years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of standardized mess/club or comparable food service and beverage practices, procedures, and pricing.
2. Ability to coordinate with various workstations to satisfy customer catering and party requirements.
3. Skills to assist customers in planning delivery of services.
4. Ability to supervise.
5. Knowledge of methods and procedures for purchasing required food products, including proper storage to prevent spoilage and pilferage.
6. Ability to prepare reports and complete simple contractual arrangements.
7. Proficient knowledge of cash handling procedures and sales operation in club or related environment.
8. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
9. Ability to prepare contractual agreements. Knowledge of Caterease Software desired.
10. Ability to supervise and provide work direction to subordinate employees and resolve problems or dispute within the activity.
11. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers, using proper tact, diplomacy and professional customer service.
This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a low-risk, non-sensitive Tier-1 background investigation with favorable eligibility as required.
