On-site Protocol
BMS has a diverse occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:
Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.

Job Description

- The Strategic Program Management (SPM) office acts as the chief of staff to the Japan GM, to manage and drive priority cross-company initiatives, and ensure alignment and transparency across key stakeholders including our global counterparts
- The Commercial Rotation Program is a 2-year rotation program through experiencing 3 department roles × 8-month, primarily in commercial functions
- This role will provide an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the pharmaceutical business and acquire knowledge and skills to drive transformation through multiple project works
- We are looking to hire a high - potential talent who has foundational business capability and leadership mindset
- This role will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Program Management of Japan, under the guidance and support by a manager of the department to be rotated and is an individual contributor role
- We expect to accelerate careers within BMS commercials, by providing rotational opportunities to experience 3 roles over 2 years
- The role will primarily work on project assignments across commercial functions, and is expected to deliver meaningful change to the organization in each rotation.
- The program will provide an opportunity to rapidly develop an understanding of the business, and build experience, networks, and leaders to become a business leader
- Apply a critical thinking skill to articulate on the goals of selected projects, and design project plans including potential cross-functional involvement with minimal instruction of the manager of the department
- Building strong relationships with multiple stakeholders to influence not only to relevant teams but also to all stakeholders to drive meaningful change through projects
- Lead an assigned projects independently, tackling complex issues applying a reasonable judgement skills
- Ensure visibility and accountability of project execution, and drive progress partnering with multiple stakeholders
- Critically analyse the progress of the projects, apply knowledge of best practice to identify potential pitfalls and flag issues when it necessary. Regularly synthesize progress and flag issues upon support from the manager during the rotation

- Manager of the department to be rotated about daily work
- Senior Manager, Strategic Program Management about the rotation program
- Fluent English and Japanese (Verbal, Writing) required
- Advanced degree level (e.g. MBA) a plus
- More than 5 years professional experience
- Track record of managing/leading projects and influencing stakeholders across functions
- Experience on change management a plus
- Ability to navigate through a matrix organization, sometimes influencing without authority
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to create a culture of collaboration and teamwork that fosters open communication, constructive conflict and organizational flexibility
- Strong career aspiration to be a business leader in the near future
- Highest level of personal integrity
- Strong business instinct: Self-starter, results-oriented, strong sense of accountability, learning agility
- Strategic and logical thinker with solid problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills: Able to listen to various stakeholders to build trust, and influencing them through various approaches / methodologies to drive consensus
- Change management ability, mental agility; bright, flexible, thoughtful, and creative
