About the Job
To implement behavioral support plans and services for individuals with disabilities living in the community and provide support for these individuals, support staff and families to enable these individuals reach their highest levels of independence possible.
Responsibilities
- Assist the BCBA or Behaviorist in Training staff on Behavioral Support Plans and gathering behavioral tracking data.
- Implement and monitor behavior support plans to include measurable goals and interventions defined by Division Circulars, best practices, and agency standards.
- Adhere to the RBT ethics code, self-reporting requirements, and supervision by BCBA
- Provide feedback to the BCBA/ Behavior Specialist regarding progress and the need for plan modification/and or tier assignment/behavioral acuity in response to changing behavioral health needs of individuals served.
- Observe interactions between individuals and staff when working on shift and identify effective and useful techniques to encourage active engagement.
- Effectively provide hands-on assistance in the training of behavior support plans to residential staff for each individual served while promoting a person-centered approach.
- Support the efforts of the BCBA/Behavior Specialist in medication evaluations and reviews with the LPN staff and other medical professionals.
- Professionally interact with other support staff and administration to ensure continuity, coordination, and care documentation between the individuals’ behavior support needs and their Individual Service Plan (ISP).
- Take a proactive role in attending all Planning Team meetings and ISP meetings of those on assigned caseload.
- Document information and treatment in accordance with DDD and Allies Inc. requirements.
- Respond to crises and interventions as needed.
- Facilitate debriefing sessions with the support team following a behavioral incident and encourage an open discussion on the event and lessons learned.
- Review pertinent records of individuals on a need-to-know basis while following HIPAA (Health Information Portability Accountability Act of 1996) guidelines.
- Provides assistance with daily living skills when appropriate with respect and dignity.
- Administers medication and completes documentation of same following procedures outlined in the Operations Manual.
- Completes training and documentation with individuals to achieve Individualized Service Plan (ISP) goals.
- Accurately completes all in-house documentation including but not limited to Vehicle Log, Individualized Service Plan (ISP) tracking, Antecedent Behavior Consequence (ABC) forms, Unusual Incident Reports/General Event Records (UIRs/GERs), Critical Information Log, Medication Administration Incident Report (MAIR), and Monthly reports.
- Successfully completes required residential training, including but not limited to: New Hire Orientation; CPR and First Aid; Medication Administration; Preventing Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation; Shifting Expectations, Life Experience and Services; Life Threatening Emergencies (Danielle’s Law); Stephen Komninos’ Law; Crisis Management; Corporate Compliance; General Behavior; In-House Orientation; and other required trainings.
- Accompanies individuals to and from appointments and activities.
- Builds a support network between the individuals and community members.
- Encourages and ensures that individuals maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment providing assistance as appropriate.
- Participates in Circle(s) of Support for personal futures planning.
- Works with each individual’s treatment team, Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and all other interested parties to build self-esteem and social capital for each individual served.
- Operates all types of agency vehicles, in any condition, at any point during shift.
- Attends conferences, seminars and training relevant to the specific needs of the individuals served.
- Other duties as assigned by the Support Manager
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- RBT Certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- A minimum of one year of experience working in habilitation or therapeutic treatment programs for individuals with mental illness and/or I/DD.
- Valid unrestricted drivers license with good driving record
- Proof of valid auto insurance coverage
- The ability to lift and transfer at least 50 pounds
- The ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, reach, be agile, physically pursue individuals on foot and stand for several hours at a time
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English and direct/respond to individual’s needs.
- Basic Computer Literacy Required
