Research Associate (Post-doc, f/m) in Development Economics

• 12 months fixed-term contract

• Work location: Belval (Luxembourg)

LISER invites highly qualified and motivated applicants for the position of Research Associate to join the Development Policy Impact Analysis Unit which is hosted at LISER and works in close interaction with the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Le Ministère des Affaires étrangères et européennes, de la Défense, de la Coopération et du Commerce extérieur).

Your role

The successful candidate will be asked to:

• Participate in the development and the activities of the Development Policy Impact Analysis Unit ;
• Interact with institutional partners (Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and JPal-Europe) ;
• Provide capacity development and/or capacity-building in partner countries ;
• Actively develop a scientific profile through high-level international publications ;
• Produce policy research reports and communicate findings to policy makers ;
• Participate in fundraising activities at national and international level ;
• Participate in day-to-day management of the project, including public outreach activities, field visits, stakeholder workshops, social media communication etc. ;
• Contribute to the research environment at the Labor Market Department and LISER.

Your profile

• Ph.D. in Economics or be close to completion ;
• Proven track record of high quality research on development issues ;
• Solid experience in quantitative methods, in particular structural modelling and prospective analyses ;
• Enthusiasm for original ideas and critical thinking for developing research networks and for communicating their findings to policy makers, field experts and to the public ;
• Interest in labour market topics is considered is a plus ;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills ;
• Excellent verbal communication and academic writing skills in English.
