Position Summary
We are currently looking for a mid-level associate to join our Tax team in our Luxembourg office. We welcome candidates with practical experience in taxation law in Luxembourg with strong academic credentials.
You should possess a good breadth of legal and commercial knowledge, excellent technical skills, and the logical rigor to grasp the tax intricacies of cross-border structuring, advisory and transactional matters.
Working in a client-facing practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills will also be significant assets – enabling you to form strong professional relationships, and to explain sophisticated legal concepts in clear, precise language that can be easily understood by non-lawyers.
Given the rapid pace of our practice, you will need to be highly organized—comfortable meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple workstreams.

Our Tax Practice Area
The Global Tax Group supports clients by bringing insight to the business and legal intricacies of the full spectrum of international tax matters.
One of the key factors of our success, globally and in the European market, is our ability to provide detailed domestic tax advice to a global standard for a global audience. Our tax lawyers act as a single team globally, working with our clients to find the most effective and sustainable structure and tax-related legal solutions. We have built one of the most successful tax practices offering a truly global and pan-European service. Our tax lawyers have been engaged in some of the most significant tax assignments in the region. Our Luxembourg tax practice is fully integrated in this multinational approach to tax issues and helps the global practice in finding the best solutions for our clients.
Our Luxembourg tax practice offers comprehensive tax advisory services. We have a strong focus on the financial industry and support all aspects of White & Case’s fund structuring and transactional work, including M&A, capital markets, and debt finance transactions. We assist clients with both transactional and advisory work, handling contentious and non-contentious mandates, as well as standalone tax matters.
As an Associate in our Luxembourg office, your work will be varied and fast-paced, handling a wide range of cross-border transactional and advisory matters for private equity houses, financial institutions, multinational companies and sovereign wealth funds. From the moment you join, you will be given significant responsibility—undertaking such tasks as coordinating communications within your team and with clients, liaising with foreign counsel, stress-testing tax structures, verifying Luxembourgish tax summaries and reviewing due diligence reports.
From the moment you join us, you will be working directly with—and learning from—partners within our group, and interacting with colleagues across the firm’s international offices and practice groups.

Qualifications and Skills
- Membership of an EEA Bar (required)
- 3-6 years of experience in a top-tier international law firm
- Strong background in Luxembourg tax law, including experience in advising on fund structuring, debt finance, capital markets, and M&A transactions
- Fluent in English and French; German and/or Luxembourgish considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
- Proven time management skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects
- Exceptional drafting skills, demonstrating the ability to produce precise, high-quality legal documents
- Driven by professional growth, with a strong motivation for continuous learning and development
- Team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Proactive, resourceful, and takes initiative with a problem-solving attitude
- International experience is a plus
- Good understanding of the key risks and issues involved in cross-border transactions
- Extensive experience advising on commercial contracts in a tax context, including share and asset purchases, credit agreements, bond documents (e.g., offering memoranda, purchase agreements, indentures, trust deeds), corporate approvals, offering circulars, etc.

- This is a role based in Luxembourg with some options to work remotely according to policy.
