Position Summary
We are currently looking for a junior associate to join our Tax team in our Luxembourg office. We welcome candidates with prior experience in taxation law and strong academic credentials. You should have a strong interest on legal and commercial tax structures, excellent technical skills, and the logical rigor to grasp the tax intricacies of cross-border structuring, advisory and transactional matters.
Excited by the challenge of developing and implementing complex tax structures, you should combine an eye for detail with the creativity and confidence to devise innovative solutions. Given the rapid pace of our practice, you will need to be highly organized—comfortable meeting tight deadlines, and producing well rounded tax analyses in a timely fashion.
Both oral and written communication skills will be major assets—enabling you to convey complex information to colleagues and clients in a way that is clear and succinct. A team player with a global mindset, you should be excited by the opportunity to work alongside lawyers across the firm’s international offices and practices. Self-motivated, you will need to display a willingness to take ownership of tasks, and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset that allows you to anticipate clients’ needs and cooperate to develop tax-efficient solutions that fit their businesses.
Working in a client-facing practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills will also be significant assets – enabling you to form strong professional relationships, and to explain sophisticated legal concepts in clear, precise language that can be easily understood by non-lawyers. Highly organized and deadlines-driven, you should relish the challenge of delivering outstanding work within the short timeframes our clients expect.
Our Practice Area
The Global Tax Group supports clients by bringing insight to the business and legal intricacies of the full spectrum of international tax matters. The Group is widely recognized for its forward-thinking approach, having handled numerous precedent-setting global firsts.
As an associate in our Luxembourg office, your work will be varied and fast-paced, handling a wide range of cross-border transactional and advisory matters for private equity houses, financial institutions, multinational companies and sovereign wealth funds. From the moment you join, you will be given significant responsibility—undertaking such tasks as coordinating communications within your team and with clients, liaising with foreign counsel, stress-testing tax structures, verifying Luxembourgish tax summaries and reviewing due diligence reports.
A fast-paced practice with a high turnover of matters, the workload can be intense but is always rewarding—especially in terms of the excellent opportunities for professional development. You will often be working in international, multidisciplinary teams—learning from colleagues within the Global Tax Group, and leading lawyers across practices as varied as M&A, Capital Markets and Real Estate.
From the moment you join us, you will be working directly with—and learning from—partners and associates within our group, and interacting with colleagues across the firm’s international offices and practice groups. We believe in giving all our associates significant responsibility, and providing them with client experience and opportunities for professional development at the earliest possible opportunity. Given the strong cross-border dimension to our work, you will also be interacting regularly with lawyers across our global offices and travelling to international destinations as required.
