KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing feeding schedules, water quality, and stock density to maintain healthy and productive environments for the fish or shrimp. This includes monitoring oxygen levels, p H, temperature, and other key water parameters.
- Managing resources like feed, chemicals, and equipment to ensure they are used efficiently. This often involves planning inventory needs and budgeting to reduce waste and cost.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of farm workers, assigning tasks such as cleaning, feeding, and monitoring, and ensuring adherence to protocols.
- Train staff on aquaculture procedures, safety protocols, and handling practices.
- Ensuring biosecurity measures are in place to prevent disease outbreaks. This includes monitoring stock health, administering treatments, and possibly collaborating with veterinarians for any required interventions.
- Keeping records of production metrics, water quality, feed usage, and treatments, which may be essential for certifications, audits, or governmental compliance.
- Ensuring that all facilities and equipment are in working condition to avoid disruptions, including managing repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Using data to make informed decisions about farm improvements, productivity, and sustainability. This can involve adjusting feeding rates, changing stocking densities, or enhancing water quality practices.
REQUIREMENT
- Education: Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma/ Advanced / Higher /Graduate Diploma in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related field is often preferred, though extensive aquaculture experience may be considered.
- Experience: Prior experience in aquaculture or aquatic farm management, ideally in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong organizational, leadership, Good Personality, Good Attitude and problem-solving skills; technical knowledge of water quality systems, disease prevention, and aquatic species biology.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fish farm operations, biosecurity protocols, environmental sustainability practices, and water chemistry.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in wet environments and carry out physically demanding tasks, often in various weather conditions.
- Required Language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English or Chinese
