Job Summary:
This role will conduct analysis and assessments related to wildlife crime, manage databases related to wildlife crime data, and assist in coordination of fieldwork, stakeholder engagements, workshops, and reports.
Major responsibilities:
Pay: RM1,787.57 - RM5,562.53 per month

This role will conduct analysis and assessments related to wildlife crime, manage databases related to wildlife crime data, and assist in coordination of fieldwork, stakeholder engagements, workshops, and reports.
Major responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and management of CWT activities (e.g., anti-poaching patrols), field staffs, preparation of field equipment and rations
- Manage all Endau-Rompin Landscape’s patrol and threat data from the field and sensors using Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) database, surveillance camera trap database, and other relevant databases in a timely manner
- Ensure SMART databases and other relevant databases are managed, audited, and improved through continuous maintenance and development of protocols
- Conduct and/or assist in vigilance analysis, problem analysis, threat assessments and other relevant analysis to produce reports in order to guide and recommend conservation and protection strategies for tigers, elephants, and other wildlife in the landscape
- Manage surveillance camera traps and other CWT technology sensors and its databases in a timely manner
- Conduct and assist in CWT-related trainings, workshops, and meetings for WCS Malaysia staff, partners (e.g., government agencies), and other relevant agencies where applicable
- Attend CWT and other relevant trainings, workshops, and meetings when required
- Work closely with other team members such as the Research & Monitoring and Community team in Johor and Pahang to collate wildlife crime information
- Assist supervisors in producing relevant documentation (e.g., analytical reports, project reports, resource materials, training reports, publications) according to project activities
- Lead and/or participate in CWT field work when needed
- Ensure monthly financial claims for the team are compiled and submitted on time for processing by Finance of WC&S Malaysia
- Assist supervisor and CWT coordinator in the preparation of monthly finances and procurement of WC&S Malaysia’s assets
- To familiarize with CWT protocols such as safety, data security, data management, CWT field operations, and other relevant protocols
- To familiarize with the WC&S Malaysia’s processes and policies
- To perform other duties as may be required by your supervisor, CWT Coordinator, Landscape Manager, and/or Country Director
- Degree in biological sciences (forestry, zoology, ecology, biodiversity), social sciences, criminology or equivalent
- Three-year working experience in related field is preferable
- Experience in anti-poaching, wildlife trade, or criminology (e.g., crime science) will be an advantage
- Passion and enthusiasm for wildlife conservation
- Has discipline to work independently and can work as a team
- Willing to travel to rural areas for extended periods
- Independent with ability to prioritize, work under pressure and under minimum supervision.
- Meticulous with a keen eye for details
- The ability to drive a manual transmission 4x4 vehicle or ride a motorcycle will be a plus
- Having knowledge or experience in using R Statistical software, QGIS / ARCGIS, SMART and statistics software is a plus
- Able to work during weekends or public holidays or when required
- Good communication skills
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to communicate in other languages is a plus
Pay: RM1,787.57 - RM5,562.53 per month
