Academic Results

BSKL Primary students regularly exceed expectations, and our Year 6 students perform an average of 10 points better than their international school peers on end of year assessments.
Amongst our IGCSE cohort 92% of all grades achieved were A*, A, or B and 100% of all grades achieved a C or higher in 2023.
100% pass rate on A-levels and 77% of all grades achieved were A*, A, or B in 2023.
Previous university placements include Oxford University, St. Andrew’s University, University College London, London School of Economics, King’s College London, Imperial College, Durham University, University of Edinburgh, California Berkeley and Barnard College, Columbia University, New York.

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a highly dedicated teacher of Drama to join our Performing Arts team in the secondary school. Our Key Stage 3 students have weekly Drama lessons and Drama is a popular IGCSE subject option.

As part of this role, you will be working with the renowned Juilliard School in New York as we teach our Performing Arts subjects in conjunction with the Juilliard Creative Classroom program. You will receive full training in this both online and in-person from Juilliard specialists who visit the school several times a year.

The department is well resourced with two mirrored studio rooms and a large, well resourced, dedicated theatre space with a full-time technician.

With 6 specialists, students can currently opt to take Drama & Music at IGCSE and Music at A-Level. We have introduced a Dance curriculum programme for the new academic year for students in Years 7&8. In the future we hope to expand this to also offer Dance qualifications and further the Drama provision into Year 13.

About you

With the ability to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers.

Degree Drama – Essential
PGCE or Equivalent – Essential
3 years of proven Drama Teaching experience within a secondary school environment – Essential
A creative and enthusiastic approach both inside & outside of the classroom- Essential
Ability to work as part of a team – Essential
Experience in staging events – Desirable

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related requirements for Malaysia.
