Senior Research Associate

- Support and coordinate Owl and Badger’s research, stakeholder management and business development activities.
- Conduct both desk and primary research on a wide variety of social and economic issues through engagement with communities, government agencies and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for partnerships, collaboration or business (includes project proposal writing).
- Supervise Research Associates and Interns, providing daily guidance, fostering collaboration and conducting regular performance reviews, while also overseeing and guiding their data analysis, proposal and report writing processes.
- Manage events, workshops and training sessions as directed by the supervisor.
- Strong time management skills and multitasking abilities.
- Self-initiated with excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of working in a diverse team and cross-cultural settings.
- Malaysian citizen with good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken); must be willing to be based in Kuching, Sarawak.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Social Work). A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a research role, with at least 2 years in a supervising position.
- Proven track record of managing research projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu.
- Proficiency in research software and tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, NVivo).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
