English Teacher for Elementary School
Tequila
FULL TIME
September 6, 2024
Job Summary
As an elementary English teacher, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to teach English as a second language, to lower elementary students at Colegio Juan Beckmann, in Tequila, Jalisco, in Mexico.
Colegio Juan Beckmann is a private school founded and operated by Fundación Beckmann (www.fundacionbeckmann.org). The school provides high-quality education for those families in the community facing the most significant economic challenges. Colegio Doris Beckmann is part of SER, a Mexican network of schools inspired by the KIPP charter school model in the United States. Following the KIPP philosophy and structure, schools are united by a common mission, a commitment to excellence, and a belief that if we help children develop the academic and character strengths they need for college and choice filled lives, they will be able to build a better tomorrow for themselves, for their communities, and for us all.
The school is located at the heart of Tequila, Jalisco, a striving community 60-min away from Guadalajara, one of Mexico’s largest and cosmopolitan cities. Being the epicenter for tequila production in the country, the town has boomed in recent years due to an increase of tourism-related activities and infrastructure. Tequila is rated by the Secretariat of Tourism as a Magic Town, as a recognition of its legacy to the national identity and its value as a tourist destination.
Given the proximity to Guadalajara, and the importance of opportunities that learning a second language can provide, Colegios Beckmann has set as one of its main objectives the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL). Children are exposed to a minimum of 100 min per day of full English teaching, in subjects such as ESL and Science. To support this effort, the school is seeking highly committed young professionals willing to teach and engage children in language learning.
