The Fraud Investigator is a full-time investigator of visa and passport fraud. The position’s primary responsibilities include performing all tasks relating to the investigation, analyzing, and tracking of fraud prevention casework in support of consular Nonimmigrant Visas (NIV), Immigrant Visas (IV), and American Citizen Services (ACS) operations. Supports other consular section units as required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of local governmental organizations, immigration law and practices, and cultural and social practices.
- Knowledge of host country laws and authorities on migratory trends, demographics, and border controls.
Education Requirements:
- Completion of two years of college or university studies is required.
Supporting documents (i.e. Education certificate) must be included in the application for eligibility purposes.

English : (Fluency) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. (The English Proficiency will be tested)
- French: (Fluency) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. (This may be tested).

Arabic (Darija) : (Fluency) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Strong interpersonal skills to work with a team of investigators and other consular staff is required.
Must have interviewing skills that engender trust and the ability to extract information from different sources.
Must have strong quantitative skills and expertise with Microsoft Office products.
Must have strong communication skills.
Must have the ability to extensively use the internet as a research tool.
Must be able to analyze evidence and individual circumstances to present facts and findings.
Must exhibit professional integrity in protecting records and sensitive information.

IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
