Lead Front-End Engineer Customer Data

The Opportunity:
ING is looking for an experienced full stack engineer with a strong focus on front-end technology who will build the foundation of our web channels to offer the best user experience for our customers. We are looking for an engineer with modern day engineering skills and competencies like an eye for innovation, creativity, attention for detail and communication.
The Team:
The Customer Data Area within ING Bank NL. The products and services of Customer Data are essential for the everyday financial needs of our customers. Without access to data of our customers for all customer journeys in the bank, customer cannot see their data, perform a transaction on their (current) account, close a mortgage or get a business loan; all journeys would fail without access to data of our customers. To ensure our customers are in control, we also enable a smooth administration of their personal data (name, address, etc) and the roles and mandates. We do so for businesses and private individuals. We are responsible for the development of the web features for offering best in-class digital experience to our customers. Within Customer Data our teams are responsible for all digital flows to manage customer data via self-service or via assisted services. Therefore, one can truly state: the products and services from the Customer Data are at the oxygen of all customer interactions with the bank.
Roles and Responsibilities:
How to succeed
You have great analytical skills and conceptual understanding. You are able to quickly understand new technical concepts and technology and you have a strong interest in, and vision of, the latest trends in software development and technology. You have strong communication skills that enable you to explain complex technical concepts to non-techies. Your English in speaking and writing is fluent and you are a team player who likes to join the social events of the squad and ING organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- A highly motivated engineer who likes to work in an international multidisciplinary team of engineers and business colleagues.
- Next to your work in the team, you also like to contribute to the mastery of other engineers and improve the way of work within ING.
- You are a competent full stack engineer with a focus on front-end development.
- You are a hardcore Java Script developer who has experience with Type Script, Node JS and NPM.
- You have knowledge of, and/or experience with, the latest Java Script versions and Web Components concepts and technology with lit-html and lit-element.
- You have experience with applying (front-end) design patterns and architecture. Besides that, you are familiar with backend technology like REST API’s, Java Spring and cloud technologies.

How to succeed

- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a relevant field
- 5-7 years of software engineering experience, preferably in creating highly scalable, secure and high-performance applications
- Experience in developing Front end applications with Java Script (ES5/ES6), HTML and CSS (Experience with latest version as well).
- Good knowledge of front end frameworks and working experience in developing Web components using one or more frameworks of Angular 8 +, React JS, Polymer and/or Lit-HTML/Lit-Element
- Experience with setting up your own pipeline configuration
- Knowledge of test driven development and test automation
- Knowledge of JSON, REST, web-services and microservice architecture.
- Familiar with continuous integration tools such as: GIT, Azure, Yarn, NPM and Bower (and are able to configure these tools)
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in Agile / Scrum or Kanban
