We're seeking a chef who not only excels in traditional Chinese cooking but also has a strong ability to develop and introduce new dishes regularly.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare a variety of Chinese dishes to a high standard, ensuring excellent taste and presentation.
2. Innovate and create new dishes, updating a portion of the menu daily to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
3. Use local New Zealand ingredients creatively, considering both availability and cost-efficiency, to develop new dishes.
4. Maintain a high level of food quality, hygiene, and safety standards in the kitchen.
5. Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
What We’re Looking For:
1. At least 6 months of experience as a Chinese Chef in a similar environment, or equivalent qualification (such as an NZQF Level 4 certificate in cookery or higher).
2. A proven ability to innovate and create new dishes on a regular basis, taking into account ingredient availability and cost management.
3. Knowledge of Chinese culinary techniques and a passion for both traditional and contemporary Chinese cuisine.
4. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
5. A team player with good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
