Family Harm Support Worker - Wahine

About the Role
Te Whānau o Waipareira is seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Harm Support Worker to join our Niwareka initiative on a full-time basis. In this vital role, you will provide holistic support to Wahine Māori who have been impacted by, or are at risk of, family violence.You will work closely with whānau to restore their safety and mauri ora, using your deep understanding of Tikanga Māori to foster meaningful connections and create lasting change. Your work will not only address immediate needs but will also contribute to the long-term aspirations of whānau, drawing on community networks to provide comprehensive and sustainable support.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Facilitate internal and external referrals, and develop Whānau Outcome Mapping Plans to guide whānau towards achieving their goals.
- Ensure all cases are managed and followed up in accordance with best practice guidelines, and maintain accurate documentation of whānau assessments and progress.
- Engage in ongoing training and educational opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness in the role.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with whānau, community agencies, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless integrated service delivery.
Your Skills and Experience
- A strong commitment to Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori, with the ability to speak Te Reo Māori preferred.
- A full, clean NZ driver’s license is essential for local travel.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with whānau, particularly in the areas of family violence, social services, or community support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community service networks, particularly in the Waitākere region.
- Proficient in case management and familiar with using Client Management Systems.
