Family Harm Support Worker - Tāne

Te Whānau o Waipareira is seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Harm Support Worker to join our Te Huringa ō Te Ao initiative. Te Huringa ō Te Ao is a new family harm service that supports sustainable behaviour change for men to restore whānau wellbeing. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting tāne who have harmed others, guiding them towards lasting change and restoring safety and wellbeing within their families.
You will work closely with whānau to provide integrated support services, ensuring that their aspirations and needs are met. Your role is to facilitate access to additional services, draw on community networks, and use innovative methods to create long-term positive outcomes, preventing the recurrence of family harm.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage and follow up on cases in accordance with established guidelines and timeframes.
- Ensure service specifications and contractual obligations are met while maintaining accurate documentation of all assessments, attendances, and evaluations.
- Work with whānau to develop and implement Whānau Outcome Mapping Plans.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with whānau, internal colleagues, community agencies, and key stakeholders to support integrated service delivery.
- Deliver services that are culturally and spiritually appropriate, respecting the unique beliefs and practices of each whānau.
- A strong commitment to Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori, with the ability to speak Te Reo Māori preferred.
- A full, clean NZ driver’s license is essential for local travel.
- 3-5 years of experience in advocating for and supporting whānau. Familiarity with the Whānau Ora outcomes framework is essential.
- A relevant qualification in health, social science, or humanities is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of community and service networks in the Waitākere region.
- A high level of integrity, reliability, and self-management, along with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
