About us | Ko wai mātou

At 41 hectares, Te Rapa is one of Fonterra’s largest manufacturing sites and makes enough product to fill 48.5 shipping containers each day! Our site produces whole and skim milk, instant whole milk powders along with cream, butter, pure dairy milk fat, cream cheese and frozen cream products. The Te Rapa factory processes up to 10 million litres of milk per day.

About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi

As a Maintenance Fitter at our Te Rapa site, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you’ll be a key member of the Maintenance Team. With a focus on Health and Safety and maintenance best practice.

You will be responsible for mechanical maintenance services across our manufacturing lines, providing support by maintaining all machinery to the prescribed level of safety & efficiency. You’ll also use your solid problem-solving skills to effectively fault find and repair breakdowns with confidence as the need arises.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark at our Te Rapa site and be part of a highly motivated and supportive team. This is a permanent opportunity on a four-on-four off roster (two days, two nights), giving you excellent work-life balance.

There will be full training and onboarding provided to give you a seamless transition into the role.

About you | Moe koe

Whilst previous experience in a similar role is required, we are also looking for the following:

Mechanical Trade Certificate (L4 or higher).
Ideally from within FMCG/Food manufacturing environment.
Strong fabrication and welding skills would be an advantage.
Extensive machining background (e.g. experience working on lathes, milling machines and surface grinders)
Exceptional fault finding and problem-solving skills.
Able to take accountability for work and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Computer literacy – knowledge of SAP is beneficial.
