The Organisation
Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA), New Zealand's largest kindergarten association, is seeking a part-time Grant Specialist to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our grant funding initiatives and contribute to providing high-quality early childhood education experiences for over 5,000 children across Auckland.
What You Will Do:
This is a role which provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to own it and make your mark, with the potential to expand this role in the future. We're looking for an experienced grant specialist in a part time role, 16-20 hours per week with flexibility of spreading the hours over a week or a couple of days whatever fits your lifestyle.
Reporting to the GM Community Engagement, the Grants Specialist will lead the organisation's grant funding initiatives. Some of the key areas of accountability for this role will be to:
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining an effective grant plan;
- Reviewing, exploring and selecting grant opportunities;
- Liaising with external funding organisations regarding funding opportunities, submission of applications, grant agreements and ongoing reporting and management of grants
- Work with a wide range of internal stakeholders, across a wide range of cultures, to provide expert advice and support with individual grant applications;
- Delivery of grant initiatives and projects;
- Responsible for the auditing and accountability requirements of community funding organisations.
Who You Are:
- have 5+ years' experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment, and enthusiasm for the education sector;
- Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills;
- Good knowledge of relevant best practice processes and a commitment to continuous improvement;
- Experience in leading, implementing or coordinating core grant programmes or initiatives;
- Have demonstrable skills in relationship building, and be able to communicate at all levels;
- Bring a bicultural lens to their day-to-day work, and have some knowledge of Te Reo Māori;
- Excellent communicator with exceptional written and verbal skills;
- Attention to detail, good time management and meeting deadlines;
- Ability to work independently in a team environment, take ownership and accountability.
