ECE Kaiako - Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA)

  • A fun and passionate teaching team
  • Strong community engagement
  • Position available Central West Auckland starting January 2025
The Organisation
Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has a long history in New Zealand in the Early Childhood Education sector, beginning in 1908 in Freemans Bay. We now have 107 kindergartens, four Ki NZ centres five Playgroups, and support services staff forming our organisation.
Ours is a bicultural environment, where the learning framework of Te Whāriki underpins all, we do, and where the good of our tamariki and their parents and whānau sits at the very heart of our organisation. At AKA, we provide a safe and enriching early childhood learning environment where tamariki can develop as confident and competent learners. Our kindergartens offer quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) to a diverse range of tamariki. Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens are places where young Aucklanders get the very best start to prepare for school and beyond - building the foundations for a lifetime of learning.
The role
AKA is currently looking for a full time ECE Kaiako to join us and help us contribute to the high level of service that we are proud to provide our local community. If you are a registered and certificated ECE Kaiako, with a current first aid certificate this is a fantastic opportunity for you to become part of the AKA!
As one of our kaiako at AKA, you will enjoy working collaboratively within a supportive team, and your commitment to bicultural practice and confidence in using ICT as a teaching tool will be vital to the great outcomes for tamariki. Through your open communication style and focus on strengthening relationships, you will value the past whilst helping to bring to life a vision for the future that is shared by the team, kindergarten whānau and local community.
Our ideal candidate will also:
  • commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • share our kindergarten's philosophy of care and respect of the natural environment and sustainability and incorporate this into learning experiences for tamariki
  • team player with strong communication skills
  • strong focus on inclusiveness, recognising and valuing the richness of diversity within our community
  • flexible, adaptive and open to new ways of learning
  • a strength in planning, assessment and documentation
  • commitment to continued professional growth and development in teaching practice

  • is highly motivated, flexible and willing to fit in with our dedicated team
  • motivated to share ideas, grow and develop within a reflective team
  • warm, friendly and respectful
  • strength in culturally responsive practice
  • able to use your initiative as well as work within a collaborative team environment
If you are fun loving, energetic and full of ideas then you may have what it takes to be our newest team member. "Apply now".
