The ideal candidate is someone who sees the opportunity in every brief, from the big campaigns to small design jobs, and is comfortable working across all mediums, as you'll be applying your craft across a variety of media, including print, digital, social media, film and video, and outdoor. Ideally, you are a polished, innovative, and ambitious designer with marketing and project management experience.
About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to have comprehensive proficiency in areas including graphic designing, advertising designing, design planning, photography, video editing, client communication, and project management.
Key responsibilities:
- Communicating with clients and stakeholders to define design objectives and requirements;
- Formulating design concepts for the subject to be communicated;
- Developing engaging, consistent, and visually striking graphic design content for clients using illustration, typography, video, film, and photography;
- Creating strong brand and visual identities for our clients based on their needs, including logos, posters, video, film, website design, signage, promotional materials, and merchandise;
- Preparing sketches, diagrams, illustrations, and layouts to communicate design concepts;
- Key person contact and responsibilities with clients;
- Promotional design across a variety of industries;
- Proficiency in using various design software to complete design work on schedule;
- Publishing design/layout jobs;
- Supervising or carrying out production in the chosen media;
- Working to tight timeframes and providing accurate time estimates for projects;
- Developing and expanding new clients;
- Managing and operating the project, responsible for the research, planning, design, execution, and promotion of the project throughout;
- Archiving information for future client use;
- Other relevant works assigned by the employer.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- A relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification, Or with at least five years of extensive professional experience can substitute for the formal qualification, is required to be successful in this role;
- An understanding of design principles, typography, layout, colour, and visual storytelling and an ability to communicate these to non-designers;
- A good knowledge of photography, video editing, illustration, and animation is desirable;
- Proficient in using the Adobe Creative Suite, especially In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat;
- An understanding of Chinese design principles and applications, as well as designing for diverse audiences;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships within the team and with external suppliers and clients;
- An ability to meet deadlines and the capability to handle urgent assignments in our fast-paced work environment;
- A portfolio showcasing a range of design work, including digital and print material
- The ability to demonstrate your creative flair where appropriate, with strong creativity and a passion for engaging design;
- Attention to detail and pride in your work, that meets a high professional and competitive standard;
Location: Auckland
Job type: Full-time Permanent
Pay rate: $32.00 per hour
Number of positions for this job: 1
Hours per week: at least 30, maximum 55 hours/week
Days required: 5-6 days/week
