Head of Engagement and Sponsorships

FULL TIME

August 13, 2024

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The University of Waikato is seeking a dynamic, strategic leader for the role of Head of Engagement and Sponsorships. This hands-on position serves as a key connector for university-wide engagement, responsible for developing, directing, and implementing activities that strengthen stakeholder relationships. The role involves managing the University's Engagement and Sponsorship Plans, leading initiatives to enhance campus activation and engagement in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions as well as national initiatives. Building relationships with external stakeholders to align with the University's strategy and enhance its reputation is key. As a representative of the University, you will provide leadership for stakeholder engagement, ensuring internal stakeholders are informed and supported in their engagement efforts.
Salary will be based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week). The position will be based at our Hamilton campus, but you will be expected to manage and support engagement and sponsorship activities across our Hamilton and Tauranga campuses.
For detailed information about the role, please refer to the position description here. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact Liz Smyth, HR Business Partner, at liz.smyth@waikato.ac.nz
Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
In addition to your knowledge of New Zealand's corporate, SME, and government business environments, you will possess a bachelor's degree or significant equivalent experience. You should have a proven ability to develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with local and national stakeholders, as well as experience in managing complex projects. Your excellent time management and organisational skills enable you to prioritise and handle a varied workload with conflicting demands effectively.
Excellent communication skills are essential, with demonstrated experience in presenting to diverse audiences and writing for various purposes. It is important that you are innovative, highly motivated, and culturally sensitive, with a 'can-do' mindset and the ability to travel to support partnership development.
While knowledge and connections within the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions are advantageous, they are not essential. We are looking for someone who is an excellent networker with drive and ambition to ensure that the University continues to take a coordinated and strategic approach to stakeholder engagement and sponsorship. You should be adept in identifying opportunities for collaboration and skilled at building lasting relationships that align with the University's strategic goals. Your ability to foster partnerships and engage effectively with diverse communities will be crucial in enhancing the University's reputation and expanding its reach.
If you are passionate about making a significant impact in the education sector and thrive in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you.
Ko wai mātou? - Who are we?
The University of Waikato is recognised for its innovative teaching, research excellence, and strong community engagement. We foster a diverse and inclusive environment, guided by the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, and are dedicated to making a positive impact locally, nationally and internationally.
He aha ngā take me tono mai ai koe? - Why should you apply for this position?
Joining the University of Waikato means becoming part of a forward-thinking institution that values innovation, collaboration, and diversity. You will work in a vibrant and supportive team that encourages professional growth and development. With a commitment to world-class education and research, we offer numerous opportunities to make a meaningful impact and contribute to the success of our community. Enjoy a rewarding career with competitive benefits and the chance to be part of a team that shapes the future of education and research in New Zealand and beyond.
