We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified, experienced Management Accountant to join our Corporate Puni. Supporting the Chief Financial Officer, Manager, Finance and Senior Management Accountants this opportunity provides an intermediate level kaimahi the chance to learn from and be guided by some of the best as part of a wider team of nine.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
The Corporate puni builds and manages the core capabilities of Te Puni Kōkiri to support delivery of our role as the Government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development.
The Management Accountant is responsible for the provision of regular, timely, and accurate costing and financial information and advice. You will
  • Support the puni to put budget bids together, prepare annual budgets and reforecasts
  • Aid other puni including Policy to advise on and ensure estimated expenditures are reasonable
  • Monitor contractor spend, providing advice to the puni and our Finance Committee
  • Relay information to and support two Senior Management Accountants
  • Take a Business Partner approach to building relationships and to gain a deep understanding of Te Puni Kōkiri that enables the provision of robust, accurate, timely advice.
The appointment range for this role is between $77,753 and $97,160 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
Mōu | About you
An intermediate level practitioner, you should be qualified as an accountant and hold registration with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). You may come from the private sector or from within government and should enjoy talking to and striking up conversation with people including leadership. We are looking for
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially and cooperatively with others
  • Have experience working with financial information and reports, budget bids and advising on estimated expenditure.
  • Tertiary level qualification in accountancy
  • Technology savvy with competence in Excel and Word and financial management systems. Can learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Are comfortable working in a te ao Māori environment and in situations where tikanga is observed. Some competence in te reo Māori or a willingness to learn is ideal.
