Te Whānau o Waipareira

Kaitūhono - Contact Centre

Auckland

FULL TIME

August 26, 2024

About the Role

Te Whānau o Waipareira is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of Māori across Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond. Our spectrum of services is evolving, and this is where you fit in...

As a Kaitūhono within our Contact Centre, you will be the first point of contact for whānau, delivering phone-based support and guidance. You will connect with whānau to establish their unique needs and ensure that they have access to the right services, at the right time. Your listening skills will be put to the test as you tautoko whānau through complicated matters, ensuring mana is upheld with each korero.

Hours of Work

We have multiple full-time opportunities available for this position. The contact centre is not bound by traditional working hours, and as such, there is a possibility of flexibility that encompasses late evenings and early mornings.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Manage inbound and outbound communications, including face-to-face engagements as necessary.
  • Advocate for whānau with various government agencies, ensuring they receive their entitlements and rights.
  • Utilize the Whānau Ora Practice model and Mataora assessment and planning framework to support whānau in achieving their self-determined aspirations.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with whānau, community services, and other external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and learning to continuously improve service delivery.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Strong commitment to Te Reo me ōna tikanga.
  • A valid Full NZ Drivers’ Licence.
  • Experience working in customer service/contact centre.
  • Experience working alongside whānau from all walks of life.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fundamental computer skills and confidence speaking on the phone.
  • Ability to listen, think on your feet, and answer whanau queries.
  • Ability to identify complex situations and create referrals for support.
Mana Motuhake (Our Goal)

Te Whānau o Waipareira is a non-government organisation, operating locally in the heart of West Auckland. We are dedicated to creating generational change for urban Māori, delivering a broad spectrum of services in education, health, and social care.

Waipareiratanga (The Waipareira Way)

Here at the Whānau House, we do our mahi differently. As a new kaimahi, you will be warmly welcomed into a close-knit whānau, with networks spanning across the West Auckland region and beyond. We walk side-by-side with the Māori community, woven into a cross-generational story far bigger than oneself. As kaimahi, we take care of your wellbeing and provide a number of benefits:
  • Fun, supportive, and flexible teamworking environment.
  • Various professional and career development opportunities.
  • Locally based offices, near to public transport and shops.
A Waipareira career is YOUR opportunity to create a difference for whānau Māori!
