We are currently seeking to employ a Mechanical Fitter and Welder to join our Infrastructure Building Solutions team based in Mt. Wellington. In this role, you will provide mechanical trade’s service to the business unit, covering the full range of mechanical services expected of a qualified mechanical fitter and welder.
About the Role
  • Reading of fabrication sheets and fabrication of product in accordance with drawings, identifying any potential problems with producing the product in accordance with the design
  • Fabrication of equipment to highest standards adhering to best trade practices
  • Quality of products produced are to the highest standards maintaining a robust QA system and process
  • Maintaining an efficient fabrication workshop through productivity and organisation
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy workshop to carry duties safely and effectively
  • Maintaining fabrication plant to ensure it is safe for use and operates within manufacture specifications
  • Ensuring optimal reliability and performance of the client’s plant and equipment by completing projects and maintenance work on time and to requirement. Understanding and implementing the company health and safety policy and taking reasonable care of own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
  • Complying and cooperating with any reasonable instruction, policy, statement or procedure by the company to allow it to comply with its duties and obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Omexom integrated management system.
  • Setting a personal example on all matters of health and safety and participate in Perimeter/BU worker participation practices.


About You
  • Trade qualification as mechanical fitter
  • To be able to read industrial drawings
  • Fabricate steel according to drawings
  • 6 – 10 years’ experience in fabrication
  • Welding qualifications
  • Can determine requirements for fabrication, installation of appliance/equipment, e.g. type, size, position, consulting with client or supervisor as necessary
