The BIMS supervisor is an adaptable, super specialised RT within our team; they are a source of support, knowledge and leadership for our brachy team and wider oncology service.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Ensure professional, operational, clinical supervision and support is provided to radiation therapists rostered through BIMS.
  • Ensure the provision of high quality, patient centred procedures which comply with best practice guidelines and operate at optimal levels of capacity.
  • Contribute to the development of the service by showing leadership and initiative.
  • Maintain a high level of patient care involving communication and collaboration with the patient, whanau, and other health professionals.
  • Provide clinical support across the service as required

Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service
The Waikato Regional Cancer Centre is located in the city of Hamilton, New Zealand. This unit serves a population of approximately 850,000 and has approximately 120 staff. We are comprised of an Oncology Department (which includes Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy outpatient treatment areas), an Inpatient Ward, Palliative Care Service and a Haematology Outpatient Department.
Our RT department centre is an all Varian environment (True Beam, Halcyon with Hypersight, Bravos) and delivers advanced treatment techniques, including SABR, IGRT and Hyper Arc SRT.

Mōu | About you
  • Wide range of advanced radiation therapy knowledge gathered over at least five years practicing as a radiation therapist including recent experience in Brachytherapy.
  • Proven leadership, self-awareness and maturity when dealing with complex situations, specifically within brachytherapy, iodine, mould room and superficial x-ray.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to connect and communicate knowledge with people.
  • Perform well under pressure and able to problem solve independently.
  • Registration and current practising certificate (without restrictions) as a Radiation Therapist with the New Zealand MRTB.
  • Post Graduate qualification in Brachytherapy
