Regional Placement & Resources Coordinator - Christchurch

- Position will support our Christchurch Site
- Competitive salary starting from $90,429 to $100,019, depending on experience

Mō te tūnga | About the role
The regional team is on a journey to ensuring we have a robust and fit for service care strategy to support our most vulnerable tamariki and rangatahi, providing care that meets the needs at the time, and into the future, to ensure or oranga can be realised.
As a Regional Placement and Resources Coordinator your focus will be on those tamariki and rangatahi whose needs and behaviours mean that finding a suitable care response can be challenging. You will work with social workers, the wider OT team, and external providers to ensure tamariki and rangatahi are supported with their care needs by using all available regional and national resources. You will be great under pressure have a can-do attitude and be able to think outside the box. You will be a people person, have an understanding of the complex nature of challenging care placements and have excellent written and oral skills.
You will also be supporting the region with their wider care strategy, assessing and presenting data, supporting the establishment of new care provision and using resources to strengthen care provided by parents, whanau, caregivers and other care providers.
The Regional Placement and Resources Coordinator will assist the regions by:
- Providing safe care which meets the individual needs of tamariki and rangatahi
- Ensuring sound practice and culturally appropriate decisions occur
- Supporting the wider team to manage critical emergencies by using all available resources to find suitable solutions
- Ensuring resources are allocated appropriately in line with the needs of tamariki and rangatahi both in care and protection and youth justice as required
- Facilitating multi agency meetings for tamariki and rangatahi and support social workers with the progression of care plans
- Building external relationships and networks to support the desired outcomes of the tamariki, rangatahi and whanau we work with
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
Key requirements of the role include:
- Must hold a current full clean driver's licence
- Knowledge of child protection and youth justice legislation
- Experience in the application of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989
- Ability to effectively navigate CYRAS to a level where themes and data analysis can be extracted to assist in decision-making and reporting requests
- Experience or qualification in social work, psychology or other related discipline with an understanding of social theories and trauma, mental health, addictions and behavioural issues an advantage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write reports as required
- Effective relationship management skills with the ability to partner with a variety of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi
- Exceptional time management, organisation skills and the ability to remain calm and level-headed under pressure
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office - namely Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Can consistently exercise discretion and inspire trust of staff and providers at all levels.
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
