Registered Nurse, Community and Home Detox - CADS Auckland

Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland is looking for Registered Nurses and to work in our Community and Home Detox Service (CHDS) based in Pt. Chevalier.
About us
CADS are the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 15000 people each year. CADS provide free community and inpatient AOD treatment from a number of locations across Auckland. CADS are committed to empowering the community to discover healthier use of substances (harm minimisation) and to promote recovery and wellbeing.
About CHDS
There are four main parts to working in CHDS:
  • Assessing clients for physical dependency of their substance use
  • Completing short term community based detoxes from alcohol and other substances
  • Benzodiazepine stabilisation and reductions
  • Completing the assessment process for the new Substance Abuse Compulsory Assessment and Treatment Act (SACAT)
There is scope to complete research projects or other special interest projects that are related to the above work.
Working in CHDS consists of working autonomously while still being part of a team. There is a close bond between team members and a strong supportive culture.
About you
Are you a registered nurse who is interested in making a healthy difference for individuals and families affected by substance misuse? Join our dedicated team offering care to people withdrawing from alcohol and other drugs in a community setting, working fulltime Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm.
A sense of social justice and enjoying working with people in all their complexity is required. You will have a non-judgemental attitude, excellent engagement and communication skills, and an ability to work autonomously within a team. You will also have:
  • Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council as a registered nurse with a current practicing certificate is required.
  • Excellent nursing assessment and crisis intervention
  • Demonstrate skills in liaison with other health professionals
  • Knowledge of concepts of risk assessment
  • Full, clean drivers licence
  • Legal right to work in NZ
  • Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work
Preferred
Clinical experience in addictions or mental health or similar e.g. managed withdrawal/ detox
