Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are looking for Registered Nurses to join our supportive community-based Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) multidisciplinary team.

MHSOP provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation interventions for older adults (over-65) experiencing recent onset functional mental ill health and/or behavioural and psychological symptoms secondary to degenerative neurocognitive conditions, primarily dementia.

We also see older adults with complex clinical presentations where specialist assessment is indicated within our scope. We work closely with geriatric medicine and other mental health services across the district.

You will be joining an experienced specialist team who are passionate about improving health outcomes and promoting the quality of life of people referred to our service.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Assess, maintain and manage clinical risk.
• Build relationships with tangata whaiora family/whanau and support agencies.
• Conduct thorough assessments of tangata whaiora health status and develop appropriate care plans in partnership with them.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for tangata whaiora.
• Commit to the MDT approach with a focus on excellent service delivery.

Mōu | About you
To be considered for this position, you must have:

• A current New Zealand nursing registration and practising certificate with scope to work in mental health.
• Experience in mental health nursing.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A strong recovery focus and a sensitivity to cultural aspects of mental health with the ability to apply the Treaty of Waitangi principles into practice.

Experience in this area of specialty would be an advantage.
