Memsaab
Retail Manager
Auckland
FULL TIME
October 15, 2024
Key Responsibilities:
- Retail Operations Management: Oversees and manages all aspects of a retail trading establishment's operations, ensuring efficient workflow, inventory management, customer service, and compliance with company policies and regulations to drive sales and enhance the overall shopping experience.
- Customer Service & Relations: Manage daily interactions with customers, ensuring high levels of service. You will need to understand our product offerings and be able to guide customers in their purchase decisions, especially around Indian ethnic wear. Excellent communication skills are vital for customer satisfaction.
- Product Knowledge:You will need to gain expertise in Indian fabrics, embroidery styles, and garment types, so you can advise customers knowledgeably. This will include understanding different clothing categories, such as bridal wear, festive outfits, and casual traditional attire.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Oversee the management of stock levels to ensure popular styles and sizes are available during peak times like Diwali and wedding seasons. You'll need to track and forecast inventory needs while working closely with suppliers.
- Supplier Coordination: You will regularly communicate with Indian suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, and shipment timelines. Flexibility is required as these discussions may need to happen outside of standard New Zealand business hours due to time zone differences.
- Sales & Promotions:Develop in-store and online promotional strategies tailored to the customer base. This includes understanding seasonal trends and offering suggestions to customers that meet their needs for specific cultural events.
- Team Leadership:Lead and manage the store staff, fostering a positive work environment and providing guidance on how to deliver excellent customer service. You will also manage staff schedules and train new team members.
- Financial Management: Undertake budgeting for the establishment to ensure financial health. This includes maintaining records of financial transactions and managing expenses effectively.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with business health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers.
- Retail Management Experience: At least 3 years of retail management experience is essential, preferably in a clothing or fashion-related environment. Experience in managing ethnic or culturally focused retail stores will be highly regarded.
- Qualification: It would be advantageous if the applicant holds a bachelor’s degree but not mandatory.
- Strong Communication Skills: Fluency in English is essential, and knowledge of additional languages such as Hindi or Punjabi will be advantageous but not mandatory.
- Flexible Hours: Availability to work during peak shopping periods, including weekends and holidays, is a requirement. Flexibility in hours is also needed to accommodate communications with suppliers in India.
- Cultural Awareness: You should have a solid understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Indian clothing and cultural events. This will help you to connect better with our customer base.
- Negotiation & Supplier Management: Experience in negotiating pricing and coordinating with international suppliers is a plus, but training will be provided if needed.
- Cultural Environment: If you’re passionate about fashion and keen to work in an environment that celebrates cultural diversity, Memsaab offers a unique opportunity to do so.
- Career Growth: As we grow, we’re looking for a Retail Manager who is committed to developing with us and contributing to our success in the New Zealand market.
