Senior Information Management Advisor - Permanent

Full time, Permanent position
Location: National Office, Wellington or other locations for the right person
The Ministry of Social Development Information, Security and Identity Group plays a vital role in supporting MSD's mission and values. As part of MSD's Organisational Assurance and Communications Group, they offer support and advice across Information Management, Security and Privacy domains.
We have an opportunity for one Senior Information Management Advisor to join our Information Strategy and Assurance function.

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
Your role as a Senior Information Management Advisor will provide expert advice and support related to Information Management. You will bring your extensive knowledge in Information Management to ensure good information practices are applied to business services and solution design. You will work collaboratively with other team members and the wider business to deliver the Group's functional activities.
Your responsibilities will include contributing to the design and implementation of information management risk and assurance activities, developing and maintaining relevant policies, standards, frameworks, and processes, supporting the Information Advisors in maintaining the Group's operations, and providing strong guidance and support to the team.

What you'll need to succeed | Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitū

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Expert knowledge of the Information Management disciplines and practices, preferably in a government context
  • Excellent understanding of relevant statutes, rules, and regulations, including compliance obligations under the Public Records Act 2005 and Privacy Act 2020
  • Capability to develop, maintain, and implement Information policies, standards, frameworks, guidance, training, and processes that are relevant to the Group's functional activities
  • Knowledge of the likes of recordkeeping, archival management and electronic records management
  • Ability to vary advice from enterprise-level principles to taking a 'by-design' approach
  • Ability to contribute to the design and implementation of information management risk and assurance activities
  • Strong relationship management skills to influence the implementation of fit-for-purpose business solutions.
Ideally you also have (not essential):
  • Experience in working in the Agile environment.
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies, especially those relevant to data protection and privacy such as AI and machine learning, cloud security, Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs).

Salary range: $118,401.00 - $143,797.00
