Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Initial Training team at RNZPC is looking for dynamic, professional, motivated employees who want to develop their coaching, mentoring and leaderships skills as an Instructor – Tactical Skills focusing on either Firearms or Defensive Tactics.
These are challenging and rewarding roles critical to the future of Police and an opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation of Police.
You will work in a supportive collegial environment where recruit training is the priority and you will have development opportunities across the Initial Training work group.
You don’t have to be an expert (however experience is advantageous and preferred). This position would suit someone who is experienced in coaching/mentoring new staff and wants to develop their leadership skills.

You will have:
  • Current First Aid certificate * Experience in Firearms training, Defensive Tactics training whilst not essential, is preferred – there is an expectation that after training you will meet the required competency standards * Coaching and Training experience in a professional and/or military environment

  • The position is subject to rotation i.e. between the training teams * The position offers opportunity to cross train in each of the disciplines (Defensive Tactics, Firearms) * There are multiple positions available * Successful applicants must reside in Wellington

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 and $91,353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
