There is only one purpose to our work: The wellness and wellbeing of our people.

Waikeria Prison is going through changes to improve the wellness and wellbeing of our people and we're inviting you to join us to help make this happen.
These changes include strengthening mental health services, providing more rehabilitation, education & training space, and opportunities for people in prison. To do this. we are building a new 500-bed facility, with an additional 100-beds in Hikitia, and a dedicated mental health and addiction service.
The new facility will also feature more spaces for people in our care to interact with whaanau/aiga/Kainga. This is a giant step forward to realising our organisational strategy Hookai Rangi. Helping our people to reach for the heavens to attain their goals, and to be safe, offence free and violence free.
