Our Network Services team is responsible for maintaining 4,000 kilometres of rail corridor, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, overhead wires, signals, and level crossings. Kiwi Rail's network is vast and complex, representing the challenging geographic features within the natural New Zealand landscape - we need experts with specialised skills to keep us in front.

We are on the lookout for a Signals Technician to join the team. You will be responsible for ensuring effective, reliable, and efficient operations of all signalling assets. This will include maintenance, installation, restoration, and repair under the supervision of the Leading Hand Signals Technician. With multiple signalled crossings on our network this role is challenging, fast paced and in an environment where using initiative and problem solving is celebrated.

This is a great development opportunity where you will receive excellent on the job training alongside our current Signals teams who are keen to pass on their skills and knowledge.

  • New Zealand electrical registration as an electrician or other relevant trade certificate
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Keen to take on further training and develop a career with Kiwi Rail
  • Proven team player
  • The ability to attend to emergency failures after hours and to work outside in all weather
  • Class 1 driving license with a requirement to gain Class 2 status
