What you’ll do

Our Senior Financial Accountant (Reporting) is a key role in the Kiwi Rail Financial Accounting team based in Wellington. You’ll be primarily responsible for leading technical financial accounting and reporting workstreams, including planning, communications, engagement with relevant stakeholders and overseeing wider team tasks.

Utilising your proven skillset and experience, you’ll take ownership of technical accounting streams and coach team members to drive process efficiency and integrity of financial results.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the preparation of Kiwi Rail Group and NZ Railways Corporation half-year and year-end financial statements
• Leading the preparation of monthly CFIS submission to Treasury
• Contributing to the planning and communication of monthly/annual financial processes, timelines and guidance
• Maintaining Kiwi Rail’s lease module and related accounting transactions
• Support tax requirements and compliance, including preparation of indirect taxation returns

What you’ll need

• Three to five years’ post-CA qualification experience in a financial accounting team
• Extensive work experience in financial accounting processes and reporting
• Accountability for financial reporting workstreams
• Extensive knowledge of NZ IFRS
• Robust and timely decision-making skills

You’ll bring your excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement mindset to this busy and varied fixed term role. You’ll enjoy being part of a high energy team as well as being someone who can work independently.

You must have current NZ Work rights and be residing in New Zealand to be considered for this vacancy
