Ara Poutama Aotearoa/The Department of Corrections supports people in prison as they progress on their journey towards re-entering the community. Our responsibility for this is guided by our Hōkai Rangi strategy which seeks to build the rangatiratanga of each person through a supportive and humanising approach. We embrace manaakitanga in dealing with all people in our work, including this key area of Volunteer Coordination. As a Volunteer Coordinator at Christchurch Women's Prison, you will be responsible for the identification of volunteer resource needs, sourcing appropriate volunteers, inducting new volunteers and providing on-going support, assisting department staff with the development and planning of programmes and activities, and most importantly, building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with both volunteers and department staff.
At Christchurch Women's Prison, we've been working hard to better serve the unique needs of women. Our Women's Strategy, Wāhine: E Rere Ana Ki te Pae Hou, sets the stage for a gender-specific, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach. Additionally, CWP plays a pivotal role in our Māori pathways program, Te Mana Wāhine, providing a comprehensive kaupapa Māori experience. We are looking to hear from people who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong work relationships with multiple stakeholder groups.
• The ability to work successfully as part of a team.
• The ability to think on your feet and to take a flexible approach in a changing environment.
• Sensitivity to the needs of a client base with diverse needs and expectations.
• Strong boundaries and the ability to operate with integrity.
• Excellent administration and co-ordination skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
• A full NZ drivers' licence is essential to be eligible for this role.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The annual salary range for the role is $68, 456 - $ 88, 648 (please be aware this will be pro rata to reflect a 20-hour working week). Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
