Our client is an energy company that specialises in oil, gas, and power in Abuja . It seeks to recruit a dynamic, multi-talented individual to head the Business Development desk.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate consistent business development success and target—driven achievements.
- Liaise between the company and key regulatory agencies in the industry such as NUPRC, NNPC (NUIMS, NEPL & Nipex), NCDMB, NERC, MBET and other relevant government agencies within the energy space etc.
- Lead the formulation, execution, and monitoring of the company’s business development, market penetration strategies and plans for enhancing business growth.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities and market trends within the energy industry.
- Identify, establish, and maintain strategic partnerships and alliances with key industry players.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and counterparties, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Drive sales initiatives to increase revenue, including negotiating contracts and closing deals.
- Prepare and present business proposals, bids, and tenders to potential clients and partners.
- Monitor and analyse competitor activities, identifying differentiation and market advantage opportunities.
- Enhance the company's brand presence and reputation through targeted marketing and promotional activities.
- Prepare regular reports on business development activities, achievements, and market insights for senior management.
- Work closely with other departments, including marketing, production, and finance, to ensure alignment of business development strategies with overall company goals.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and promote business opportunities.
- Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suites (MS Word, Excel and Power Point).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Good knowledge of upcoming and ongoing key projects in the downstream oil and gas sector.
- Proven contacts in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
- Proven sales contacts in Nigeria's oil and gas industry
- Proven track record of winning businesses and meeting targets.
- Capability to identify needs and develop real-world solutions.
- Business intelligence gathering skills.
- Self-motivated with a strategic mindset.
- Proven experience working with minimum supervision.
- Charismatic, social, responsible, and passionate about the job.
- Minimum of BSc in Business Administration or related fields. (What is important is the person's experience and general knowledge of the energy industry)
- Minimum of 10 (+/-) years of experience in business development within the energy industry.
- Strong understanding of the energy market, including key trends, players, and technologies.
- Deep understanding of the peculiar dynamics of the regulatory agencies and strong personal contacts within them.
- Communication Skills, complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Strong management skills.
- A proper understanding of the energy industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in market analysis and strategic planning.
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts and close deals effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
- Experience in managing business development projects from conception to completion.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.
- The Applicant must reside in Abuja.
