Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement company health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure that all safety protocols align with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Regularly review and update health and safety documentation.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards within the workplace.
- Implement control measures to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
- Regularly review and update risk assessments as needed.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure that all incidents are reported and recorded properly.
- Recommend corrective actions and ensure they are implemented.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Identify any unsafe practices or conditions and take corrective action.
- Maintain inspection records and follow up on any non-compliance issues.
- Organize and deliver health and safety training for employees.
- Ensure that staff is aware of safety procedures and how to use protective equipment.
- Promote health and safety awareness within the organization.
- Ensure the organization is in compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and ensure timely implementation.
- Develop emergency response plans and coordinate safety drills.
- Ensure proper procedures are in place for fire safety, chemical spills, and other emergencies.
- Ensure emergency equipment is properly maintained.
- Prepare reports and documentation for management and regulatory bodies.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and suggest improvements.
- Ensure all documentation and records are properly maintained.
- Ensure proper use and availability of PPE for employees.
- Train staff on the correct usage, care, and storage of PPE.
- Work closely with department heads, supervisors, and employees to ensure health and safety practices are being followed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for any health and safety concerns.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Familiarity with OSHA, local safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Expertise in identifying risks and implementing safety protocols.
- Ability to clearly communicate safety policies and conduct training sessions.
- Ability to investigate and address safety incidents.
- Willing to travel from site to site
- Thorough in inspections and audits, ensuring all potential hazards are identified.
- Experience in leading safety programs and educating others.
- Often required to be certified in first aid and CPR.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar health and safety certifications.
-Minimum of 2-5 years in a health and safety role, preferably in a related industry (construction).
