ABOUT CLIENT: Our client, a multinational Agro-allied company with subsidiaries in Nigeria is currently seeking an ‘An HSE Officer’ to join their team.
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer to join our client agro-allied company, which specializes in large-scale agricultural practices across Africa. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability. This role is critical to maintaining operational efficiency, protecting employees, and ensuring environmentally responsible practices in line with industry standards and digital advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of operations, facilities, and equipment to identify and mitigate risks.
• Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures tailored to agricultural operations.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures.
• Maintain and update risk assessments and safety protocols regularly.

Training and Awareness:

• Organize and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
• Promote safety awareness and a culture of accountability through campaigns, workshops, and regular communications.

Incident Management:

• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
• Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain records of all HSE-related incidents and provide insights to management.

Sustainability Practices:

• Support initiatives to adopt environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
• Monitor waste management and energy efficiency processes to minimize environmental impact.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of HSE activities, audits, and compliance measures.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly HSE performance reports for management review.

Collaboration and Leadership:

• Work closely with operations teams to embed HSE practices into daily activities.
• Act as a point of contact for external regulatory bodies during audits or inspections.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Professional HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA) are highly desirable.
• 4+ years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in the agricultural or agro-allied sector.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
• Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage diverse teams.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for data analysis, reporting, and safety management.
• Commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦400,000.00 - ₦500,000.00 per month
