Position: Specialist Nurse - Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Summary:
The Specialist Nurse PACU is a highly trained healthcare professional dedicated to delivering comprehensive and specialized care to patients in the immediate post-anaesthesia phase. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety and comfort as they recover from the effects of anaesthesia and surgical interventions. The Specialist Nurse PACU is responsible for continuous monitoring of vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory status, and oxygen saturation, to detect any signs of distress or complications, such as airway obstruction, hypoxia, haemorrhage, or cardiovascular instability. They utilize advanced clinical skills to manage pain, administer medications, and initiate life-saving interventions in emergencies. The Specialist Nurse PACU also provides emotional support and education to patients and their families, explaining post-operative care instructions, expected recovery timelines, and signs of potential complications. They work closely with anaesthesiologists, surgeons, and the broader multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless communication and effective coordination of care, facilitating smooth patient transitions to inpatient wards or discharge home. The Specialist Nurse PACU plays a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, calm, and efficient environment, adhering to stringent protocols and guidelines to deliver the highest standards of patient-centered care.
What You’ll Do:

Provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anaesthesia.
Monitor vital signs and manage pain relief post-surgery.
Collaborate with surgeons and anaesthetists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Educate patients and their families about post-operative care.

Who You Are:

A registered nurse with relevant experience in PACU or critical care.
3+ year of experience working in PACU or related field.
Committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
Strong communicator with excellent teamwork skills.
