Position: Specialist Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Job Summary:
The Specialist Nurse ICU is a highly skilled and experienced nurse responsible for delivering complex and comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role requires advanced clinical expertise to manage patients with life-threatening conditions, including multi-organ failure, severe respiratory distress, sepsis, post-operative recovery, and other critical illnesses. The Specialist Nurse ICU performs detailed patient assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, and closely monitors patients using advanced technologies such as mechanical ventilators, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). This position demands rapid decision-making, critical thinking, and the ability to remain calm under pressure to stabilize patients and manage acute changes in their conditions effectively. The Specialist Nurse also collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care tailored to each patient's unique needs. Furthermore, the role involves providing comprehensive education and emotional support to patients’ families, helping them navigate the complexities of critical care, understanding the care plan, and preparing for potential outcomes, including end-of-life care when necessary. In addition, the Specialist Nurse ICU is a key advocate for patients, ensuring that their needs and preferences are respected and integrated into their care.
What You'll Do:

Provide exceptional nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Monitor patients’ conditions closely and respond to changes in their health status.
Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and recovery processes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Who You Are:

A registered nurse with a valid nursing license.
3+ years of experience in critical care nursing with a passion for patient-centred care.
Strong communicator with excellent teamwork skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
